black striped gradient nail art

svart stripe fotor 1

I’ve been a bit off lately and my motivation for nails and blogging has been at the bottom. But as always the inspiration returns after a while. Yay!!

back in black

I recently rediscovered my love for black nails and I have a new favorite, IsaDora Jugend Black. A perfect onecoater which looks like a black cream but up close you  can see a tiny hint of shimmer. Love the color and love the formula!

the stripes

I’m obsessed with accent nails for the moment and I wanted to add some color to the manicure. I chose three creams from China Glaze, the green Grass is Lime Greener, the blue Capacity to See Beyond and the purple Givers Theme. I quickly made the gradients by using a sponge and then added some stripes. For these I used striping tape.

I really like the result. Dark and vampy but with some hints of color. Do you like it?

poisonous pink nail art

DSC_1122 - version 2_Fotor

Today it is Nail Art Sunday at LeLack, as every sunday. The today´s theme is focused on rising awareness of breast cancer and the pink ribbon campaign, just like the United in Pink initiative that Lacky Corner is hosting this week.

poison and optimism

Cancer is a devastating disease. In your fight against the poisonous sickness you need to have an optimism. An optimism that you someday will get well, and an optimism that enables you to see things positive in the everyday life you are living in the middle of the crisis. At least that is how I feel about the frustrating time of sickness I’m going through myself at the moment. (Not cancer though…) And I wanted to capture this feeling in the nail art for today.

inspired by joanne

I saw an awesome poison mani at the blog Witch Nails the other day which I used as inspiration for this manicure. (By the way, this is the first time ever I saw a good use of crackle polish.) Then I added an accent nail with flowers I painted with some dotting tools.

the palette

For this manicure I started with the pink Essie Too Taboo and IsaDora Jugend Black. Then I topped everything with the crackle polish IsaDora Black Tag. The poison touch was then finalized with some extra Essie Too Taboo at the tips.

The accent nail has China Glaze Friends Forever Right? as base color, then I used the same pink and black polishes as on the other nails to dot the flowers. Finally I added a hint of neon green in the middle, China Glaze Grass Is Lime Greener.

lovely blink blink no. 4

Have you tried this brand before? Lovely Blink Blink?

unknown for me

This is a polish I got last year as a birthday gift. Thanks Maja! I was sooo excited to get a nail polish from a brand that was completely new to me. I had never heard of it before and this is the one and only polish from Lovely Blink Blink in my stash. When I googled the brand I found it on a polish website ( a website from Poland, not a nail polish site in this polish case).

Lovely Blink Blink nail polish

interesting, in a boring costume

The combination of glitters in this polish is quite interesting and I don’t think I have any other polish in my stash like it. It has a sheer base filled with green micro glitters. The green is accompanied by pink squares and prismatic hexagons in two different sizes. I like this odd combination. On the pictures I wear one coat of Lovely Blink Blink No 4 over a white base, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

But the name?! Why can’t manufacturers take their time to name their products properly? There can’t be any more boring labels than those marked with just a number. Nothing else.

colors by llarowe: show me da money

DSC_0898 - version 2_Fotor

Wow, such an eye-catching polish. I can’t take my eyes away from it!

the show off collection

Show Me Da Money is one of four multi chrome polishes from the Show Off collection which was launched by Llarowe this summer. They all have a deep and intense shifting color scale, topped with a hint of holographic sparkle. I love them all!

 a bit streaky

The big drawback with these polishes are the streaky formula. Up close it can be seen, but mostly it drowns in the color shifting finish so I can live with it. The colors really varies depending on the lightning and sometimes you see a flash of holo. Show Me Da Money is an ever shifting beauty of gold, green and yellow. Can’t get tired of it!

romantic dinner nail art

Some small sparks of creativity are slowly creeping back into my veins, even though I’m still spending most of my days sleeping. But it feels like a good sign!

And the other day me and my husband made something we rarely do. We had a romantic dinner at a restaurant, only the two of us. It was perfect!

perfect company, perfect nails

Of cours I had to do my nails for such an occasion. I wanted something romantic and a bit elaborate so I ended up with a red, black and white manicure with some accent nails in flower pattern.

step by step

I started out with the stunning OPI The Show Must Go On, a reddish raspberry duochrome which flashes in golden orange. Then I added some accent nails with the white OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. After drying I stamped on some flowers using the black holo polish Color Club Beyond and konad plate m60.

Easy, and I had the best looking nails in the restaurant. And the best company…

Dance Legend Moondust

My nails and polishes always follow my mood swings and the other day when I had a rough day I felt the need for something dark. And my choice fell on Dance Legend Moondust.

Dance Legend has quickly risen to be one of my absolute favorite brands. Great formula and inventive collections and color combinations. Moondust belongs to their texture collection Sahara Crystal.  The texture polishes of Dance Legend are a bit different from other textures I’ve tried. They dry to a finish that look kind of plastic and artificial, with quite small sizes on the “sand” particles. I love this finish!! Take a look at Luxy Glam as well, also from the Sahara Crystal line of Dance Legend.

This dark, almost black, blue polish is just my taste. This will be worn again and again and again…

By the way: Take a look at more blue beauties at Tove’s Blue Monday!

Dance Legend Best Vacations

DSC_0834 - version 2

Today I have a very suitable polish for the day to show: Dance Legend Best Vacations.

Today is my first day of the vacation. Yay!! Several weeks ahead of me with time with my family and for all those things I never have time to do otherwise. Feels great!!

Best Vacations is a coral toned orange neon, just the shade for the summer I have been longing for since last year. The formula was a bit tricky though, I needed three coats for full opacity. But it was definitely worth it!

CrowsToes Svartalfheim

DSC_0805 - version 2

CrowsToes Svartalfheim, such a juicy and vampy polish!

When I first laid eyes on the 9 Realms collection from CrowsToes I knew instantly that Svartalfheim was going my direction. Svartalfheim has a dark navy jelly base and is packed with different sized glitters. There are silvery and blue glitters in various shapes and sizes. Add some prismatic micro glitters and you have the awesome mix in Svartalfheim.

I really love this polish! For this mani I used two coats of Svartalfheim and the jelly base gives a stunning depth in the polish when combined with the glitters. It truly looks delicious on the nails!

Take a look at Tove’s blog for more blue manis in her Blue Monday theme!

Beach Nail Art – Waves and Sand

DSC_0810 - version 5

Summer is the theme of today’s NailArt Sunday at LeLack. For me summer equals the beach. Nothing is more relaxing than lying on the beach, reading a good book.

A while ago I stumbled across an awesome beach manicure at Chalkboard Nails, so I decided to do my own version of it. I made the water nails by using Essie I’m Addicted and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.

Then I wanted the sandy feeling of a beach so I grabbed my Liquid Sand polish OPI What Wizardry Is This?. To make the transition between dry and wet sand I blended in some white in What Wizardry… and made a gradient of sand.  Finally I added a white star sticker to symbolize a starfish.

How do you like this manicure?

Polish Revolution Florals… for Spring?

DSC_0585 - version 5

Yesterday we celebrated Midsummer Eve here in Sweden, one of the year’s highlights.

A polish that gives me a summer feeling is Polish Revolution Florals… for Spring?. Florals… has a gorgeous baby blue base color and is filled with orange hexagons combined with blue and purple micro glitters. To me, this combination of colors is both unusual and sophisticated. I like!
